To read this collection of prose poems is to leap into the teeming waters of dream. The nature and identity of everything here shapeshifts moment to moment. Time unfurls in new ways. Personification reigns, endowing all that exists with agency and otherworldly imperatives. “Dust loves its job filling holes.” “Now the word ‘small’ reappears and talks to me.” “I’m vaguely jealous
to see my evening dresses walking about the garden without me...” “...a wheatfield’s busy kneeling in my bathtub.” Buried cities, hidden entrances, and secret fields beckon, offering up yet also keeping their tantalizing mysteries just beyond our reach. It’s a
treat to read a female surrealist who maintains such unfettered access to her admirable imagination.
—AMY GERSTLER

This lovely, elegiac, surreal—with true wit—procession contains a washing of the language. The phrases, images, juxtapositions, & the way Celeste Goyer transforms them, are new & exciting. This trip is fun, & illuminating!
—HARRY E. NORTHUP
